The Tudor Water Sports in Mombasa was abuzz with activity during the weekend of 14th March as children flocked in with their parents to sample the ocean of educational and story books at the 9th Book Fair organized in support of the Blind.
Apart from books, a variety of stationery items proudly contributed by the Fairdeal Group of Companies were on sale to raise funds for the Braille Publications. Educative games such as puzzles, pretty notebooks, pen sets, colour pencils, sharpeners and rulers were hot cakes with the children.
The Book Fair was also a package of family fun with other activities like boat rides, paddling and canoeing on offer.
According to Mr. Noor, the organizer of the Book Fair, school Children from Aga Khan, Swaminarayan , Mikindani and Oshwal were among the schools that participated in the Book Fair. All books and examination papers were sold at Kshs. 50 to make it affordable for all.
Amongst the institutions that largely benefit from the Book Fair are the Likoni School of the Blind, African Braille Centre and the Kenya Society for the Blind.
